This festival is being presented from Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 8 by The Dancers of Damelahamid in partnership with the UBC Museum of Anthropology. The Festival is a celebration of the stories, songs and dances of the Indigenous peoples of the northwest coast of North America. There will be dance groups from the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, Kwakwakawakw, Gitxsan, Tsimshian, Nisga'a, Haida, Tagish and Tlingit Nations. Guest artists from across Canada, as well as international groups from New Zealand & Australia, have also been invited to share their traditions. Tickets for the Signature Evening Performances are $25, and Festival Stage Performances are $16.75. This Festival has been happening since 2008 and is a wonderful way to experience the lived traditions of these nations.
SheTalks

The first annual SheTalks Conference is happening this Saturday, March 7 at the Chandos Pattison Auditorium in Surrey. It features 15 female speakers, talking about how they are changing their world, and how they view the role of women as innovators, leaders, creators and change makers. Tickets are $40 and includes a lunch. All proceeds from the event will go to the SheTalks Scholarship created in conjunction with Simon Fraser University. This is a great opportunity for women to hear from other women in leadership positions and network with other women.
