Pay Action for Members Burnt by Phoenix

burnt-fb-header

Colleagues,

As you are aware, we have been struggling for almost 2 years under the Phoenix pay system. The financial and emotional hardships faced by so many of us is inexcusable. If you or someone you work with experience pay issues, please draw their attention to the following:

Phoenix Question & Answers/ Actions

1. Did you receive no pay on pay day?

Action: Immediately speak with your manager/supervisor (section 34 delegated authority) to request an Emergency Salary Advance or Priority Payment (Maximum 48 hours turn around)

2. Have you recently returned from long term sick leave, maternity or paternity leave, transfer "in" or on a "gradual return to work"?

Action: Confirm with HR that all necessary entries/updates have  been completed. Prior to your return, schedule a meeting with your manager/supervisor prior to your return to confirm all authorizations are entered into the system and processed before you return to work.

3. Did you not receive your full entitlements, for example, overtime, acting pay, northern allowance, allowances etc.?

Action: File a Pay Action Request (PAR) Form and request that your manager/supervisor process a Priority Payment for your missing entitlements. (Processing of extra-duty pay, outside of the Priority Payment option, may take up to  a year at the Pay Centre)

4. What if there is no obvious answer as to why your pay was affected?

Answer: If there is no obvious explanation as to why you have not been paid your full entitlements, file the PAR and review TRACKMYCASE through Compensation Web Application. Ensure that management is trying to discover the reason for the problem as well. Escalate the matter to your local Pay Advocate who will then work with our Component (Union of National Employees) to  help escalate the issue on your behalf.

As a last result, I encourage you to contact your local Member of Parliament in order to have your pay issue escalated. MPs have contacts apart from public enquiry lines and will ensure your case receives the attention it deserves. Click here to find your local MP by entering your postal code (as seen below).

In solidarity,

Rally to Support UNDRIP on Wed. Nov 22, 2017 6-7 pm Victory Square

english_logo_white_text_1000px-01-invert

MP Romeo Saganash tabled Bill C-262 to ensure that the laws of Canada respect the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Romeo spent 23 years at the United Nations negotiating the Declaration which was endorsed by Canada in 2010. This is the second time that he has tabled a bill of this nature: in the previous Parliament, his bill was fully endorsed by his party. The Liberals and Greens also voted in favour. The Prime Minister has stated that implementation of the UN Declaration is a priority for his government.

A second reading in the House of Commons is scheduled for December 5, 2017.

With your voice and collaboration, we will raise awareness and gain support for Indigenous human rights and Bill C-262.

PSAC Vancouver Women’s Committee Shoebox Project Wrapping Party

It’s a wrap! – A wrapping party to celebrate the end of our year-long Shoebox project!

PSAC Vancouver Regional Office, #200 – 5238 Joyce Street

November 15, 2017 6:30pm - 9:00 pm

Come celebrate with us and help wrap up out gathered donations in support of the Shoebox Project http://www.shoeboxproject.com/home.html

The Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee invites all women to help wrap shoebox gifts that will be distributed to women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in communities. Each thoughtfully created and decorated Shoebox is filled with items valued at $50 that can enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in crisis.

Our committee has been fundraising through knitting sales and gathering donations all year-long and on November 15 we want to come together, have fun and put the shoeboxes together (just in time for Christmas). We would love to have you join us!

Interested in making/donating a box? Please go to http://psacbc.com/shoebox-project for more info on how to support before November 15. Otherwise RSVP and come to the wrapping party. We’ll have plenty of appetizers to fuel you throughout the evening.

Please RSVP Monica Urrutia - urrutim@psac-afpc.com
